K-12 Schools

School Administrative Unit No. 34 provides administrative oversight for the Hillsboro-Deering, Washington and Windsor School Districts. The Hillsboro-Deering School District has three schools, and the Washington School District has one school:
  • Hillsboro-Deering Elementary School (preK-5)
  • Hillsboro-Deering Middle School (6-8)
  • Hillsboro-Deering High School (9-12)
  • Washington Elementary School (K-5)
Washington students attend Hillsboro-Deering Middle and High Schools. Students from Windsor attend the Hillsboro-Deering schools.

Student Excellence

 
The Hillsboro-Deering schools have a long and distinguished history of service to children and families. We are proud of our students. They continue to achieve at high levels and make significant contributions to our community. Just as important as academic excellence, a heavy emphasis is placed on civility, citizenship, and character development.

Curriculum

 
It is our intent to deliver the very best instructional program possible to our students. Our curriculum is extensive, including:
  • Advanced placement courses
  • Effective student assistance programs
  • Full-day Kindergarten
  • Special education options
We also offer a variety of enrichment opportunities including K-8 after school programming and a wide variety of K-12 extracurricular activities. 

Hillsboro-Deering Elementary School (Grades Pre-K - 5)


  • Established a Student Leadership Team of 4th and 5th graders with members participating in leadership training
  • Monthly Family Educational Activity Nights (FEAN) which are well attended
  • Offers Kid Adventures Before and After School Program servicing over 70 students, academically and socially
  • Recycling program with students involved in collection the recycling material

Hillsboro-Deering Middle School (Grades 6 - 9)


  • Held a Book Drive to collect books for the homeless
  • Held Career Day in June with local businesses and community members participating
  • Held Community Service Day in April with full school participation in cleaning up Manahan Beach, Grimes Field, and Fox State Forest

Hillsboro-Deering High School (Grades 9 - 12)


  • 2016 Silver medal from U.S. News and World Report for ranking 11th in the state of NH
  • Heidi Welch, 2013 NH Teacher of the Year and National teacher of the year semi-finalist
  • Received the NHDOE Commissioner’s Circle of Excellence Award
  • Received the NHIAA Sportsmanship Award
  • Recruited to join the League of Innovative Schools
  • Seven student leaders presented on School Culture and Student Achievement to 650 educators at the 2014 Innovative Schools Conference in Norwood, MA
